The LEGO Foundation was set up by the founders of the LEGO Group, the Kirk Kristiansen family, who chose to transfer 25% ownership of the LEGO Group to the LEGO Foundation to enable all children reach their full potential through learning through play.

About the position

The Head of CEO Office has the responsibility for the daily operations of the CEO Office. The Head of CEO Office reports to the CEO and will be part of the Executive Leadership Team.

Organisational responsibilities

As a team and functional leader, you have the responsibility to guide and direct your team through the following strategic, tactic and operational responsibilities:

Strategy

  • Drive an agile rolling strategy process for the LEGO Foundation
  • Collect and connect analyses, benchmarking, briefs, etc from all Centres for strategic priority setting

Leadership and governance

  • Improve decision-making and shared accountabilities of the Leadership Team by driving LT meetings with clear agendas, strategic topics and strengthened follow up mechanisms
  • Support the CEO in driving positive culture change, embracing and personifying our values while actively advancing our inclusion agenda
  • Drive the agenda setting and content development for the LEGO Foundation Board of Director meetings, constantly improving the processes to ensure efficient, engaging and playful Board meetings focused on the impact we are having in children’s lives

Leadership support

  • Provide administrative support to the CEO
  • Lead a group of support functions
  • Help build and strengthen CEO relationships with the LEGO ecosystem and external partners

Accountability and transparency

  • Build an internal review function to support continuous improvement of LF management, policy and practice
  • Strengthen a joint leadership voice through clear and consistent engagement and internal communications

The CEO Office consists of an internal engagement manager, an internal review coordinator, an executive management specialist and an executive assistant.

Candidate requirements

This person will first and foremost be an individual whose heart and mind are aligned with the LEGO Foundation purpose and values. The person will thrive in playful environments, readily integrating fun, imagination and creativity in the workplace. They will have a strong appetite for creating and sustaining impact in many different and often difficult contexts. In addition to this passion for its work, the Foundation is seeking a range of experiences and skills, including:

  • +10 years of progressive experience from private foundations, non-profits, education and/or the development/humanitarian landscape
  • Multi-country work experiences an advantage
  • Experience in supporting leadership and board
  • Track record of leading efficient, high-performing cross-functional teams with a thoughtful, empathetic approach
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Impeccable organization skills, with strong project management skills
  • Proactive problem-solving skills with consistent ability to drive even the most ambiguous situations toward clarity
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with experience building and strengthening diverse, inclusive teams
  • Extremely adaptable with the ability to be reactive and shift priorities and plans when needed
  • Experience in strategy development and implementation
  • Master degree in International Development, business administration or a related discipline.

The position is based in Billund, Denmark, at the headquarters of the LEGO Foundation (and the broader LEGO Eco-system).
